1. Start OrCAD Capture, or OrCAD Capture CIS, from:
Start (Windows Icon)>Cadence PCB 17.4-2019>OrCAD Capture CIS 17.4
(Any Windows edition supports Desktop Shortcuts)
(Selecting the OrCAD Capture CIS 17.4 shortcut, will start the OrCAD Capture executable, then, which Capture functionality you get will be determined by the selected license)
The installer will have set the system level file associations for OPJ and DSN files to be associated with the Capture executable, other Windows settings may override these.
2. Select a license, like OrCAD Capture, OrCAD Capture CIS, OrCAD Unison EE, OrCAD PCB Designer with PSpice and so on.
You may also see an OrCAD Capture CIS Option added to some selections, this adds the OrCAD Capture CIS functionality to the OrCAD Suite licenses that have just OrCAD Capture included.
Unless started from a specific file, OrCAD Capture or OrCAD Capture CIS will start in the Capture “session mode” with no design or pages opened.
