1. If OrCAD Capture or Capture CIS is not running, see Lab 1-1

 

2. Select File>Open>Project.

The Open Project window appears.

 

3. Navigate to the C:\OrCAD_Training\Capture\Sample directory.

 

4. Select sample.opj and left-click>Open.

The Project Manager window opens. Observe that the name of the project file is displayed at the top of the Project Manager window.

 

5. In the Project Manager window, if you see a “+” to the left of the .\sample.dsn entry, double-click .\sample.dsn to open the folder.

 

6. If you see a “+” to the left of the Schematic1 entry, double-click Schematic1 to open the folder

 

7. Double click PAGE1, page one of the SAMPLE design opens.

 

8. Enlarge the schematic window and left-click the Zoom to all icon.

The page size changes to fit the schematic window.

 

9. In the main toolbar, left-click the Zoom In icon.

The image has been magnified by a factor of 2 to 1.

 

10. In the main toolbar, left-click the Zoom Out icon.

The image has been reduced by a factor of 2 to 1.

The zoom scale factor is a user preference.

 

11. Press the I key to zoom in and the O key to zoom out. When zooming in or out, observe that the cursor remains at the centre of the view. These commands are “cursor location dependent”.

 

12. Place the mouse cursor in a different areas and press the I and O keys again.

 

13. With the view zoomed in, place the mouse cursor to the right or left side of the view and press the C key to centre the view.

 

14. Hold the C key down (do not touch the mouse buttons) and move the mouse. Notice the “auto scroll” feature.

 

15. In the main toolbar, left-click the Zoom to Region icon.

Observe that the cursor shape turns into a magnifying glass.

a. Left-click (or drag) to define the area into which you want to zoom.

b. Right-click>End Mode from the pop-up menu.

(You can also use the <Esc> key to exit a command)

 

16. Left-click the Zoom To All icon, followed by the Zoom In icon.

 

17. Place the mouse cursor over a part (do not click the mouse) and press the C key on your keyboard, the location of your cursor becomes the new centre-point of the view. Try this on another part.

(Zoom commands are also available in the View pull-down menu.)
