1. If necessary, open the Lesson 10 project again, or activate the tab for the Lesson 10.
2. If not already opened, double-click each schematic page entry in the Project Manager window to open both pages of the Lesson10 design.
3. Use the tabs to toggle between PAGE1 and PAGE2.
4. Notice that the copied page already has reference designators assigned.
Also observe that both pages have title blocks that read “Sheet 1 of 1”.
5. Left-click in the Project Manager window and select the design (.dsn) entry.
6. Select Tools>Annotate from the top menu.
7. In the Action section of the Annotate window, left-click either Incremental reference update or Unconditional reference update.
8. Left-click>OK to start, Yes to Clear Undo and OK to continue.
9. Use the tabs to toggle between PAGE1 and PAGE2.
Observe that all parts have reference designators assigned. Also observe that the title blocks now read “Sheet 1 of 2” and “Sheet 2 of 2”.
10. When the Unconditional Reference Update option is used, all parts are processed (even ones with existing reference designators). This automatically resolves any duplicate reference designator problems that may occur when pages are copied from other designs.
