Place Replicate is a quick and easy method to reuse items in a board file. This could be from a different board or identical routing in the same design (like a channel). Key factors in ensuring that Place Replicate will work successfully is ensuring that the parts used have identical PCB Footprints, Point to Point Connectivity and Device Types. This lab walks through the process of creating and then reusing existing circuitry resulting in time saving for the user. once generated the modules can be placed, swapped, aligned and updated with simple steps. Modules can also be opened as a standalone file using PCB Editor (change the files of type dropdown to *.mdd).
Place Replicate Modules are locked by default and any Dynamic Shapes in the Place Replicate Module are converted to Static Shapes. There are some User Preferences, covered in the Lab, to change this behaviour.
