Session 12: Other Tools in OrCAD Capture 17.4

Intersheet References

Intersheet References can be added to Off-Page Connectors and Hierarchical Ports to aid locating signals through the design. A prefix and suffix can be specified, like “Pg[” and “]”, and the page number will be placed between them, like Pg[1] and so on.

Offsets are specified in “small” grid units so a value of 10 will represent one large grid offset.

For hierarchical designs, “!” before the page number in the Intersheet Reference means that the signal goes down the hierarchy from this page to the page number and “^” before the page number in the Intersheet Reference means that the signal goes up the hierarchy from this page to the page number.

Cross Reference Report

The Cross Reference Report provides a report of unused packages and the X / Y locations of parts on the Schematic Page(s)

Bill of Materials

Tools>Bill of Materials reports the parts used in the design. For the default settings the Item Number, Quantity, Reference Designator and Value property are reported.

The output can be viewed, if file association with the BOM file extension has been configured, or opened in Microsoft Excel, if Microsoft Office has been installed. Note that only one of the View / Open options can be selected.
